Heat Illness Prevention Plan

Heat has become an increased source of risk to employees, especially those who work outdoors above 95oF or indoors with a radiant source of heat such as a stove or welding equipment.  The U.S. Department of Labor has announced a National Emphasis Program to prevent heat illness in a number of industries, including educational services.  Kern High School District is committed to preventing heat illness at our various work locations and has developed a Heat Illness Prevention Plan available at the link below:

In addition to a district plan, school sites and office locations have individual plans to train employees to know how to access shade, water, rest, and how to acclimatize to heat conditions.  In addition to the plan, posters are provided at work locations and to staff working in high heat conditions to remind them of the appropriate procedures to prevent and respond to heat illness.
