Click on the link above for more information about the Name Our Next School Contest! The Kern High School District's next new school is scheduled to open in August 2022 but the school does not yet have a formal name. Construction on the school, currently known as School #19, is scheduled to start in the fall of 2020 in southeast Bakersfield at the corner of Panama Ln. and Cottonwood Rd. Selection of a formal school name will allow for proper identification of the school in all plans, specifications and legal documents. A formal name is also an important first step toward the creation of a school identity, which will carry a great deal of meaning for the community and the school's students, staff, and alumni.
The mission of the Kern High School District is to provide programs and services to allow ALL students to graduate from high school prepared to succeed in the workplace and at the post-secondary level.
