COVID-19 Updates & Information - Updated 5/18/20

The Kern High School District is providing free summer meals to children 2 to 18 in our community beginning on Monday, June 1, 2020, through Thursday, July 9, 2020. Grab and go meals will be available between the hours of 10:00 am and 11:30 am, Monday through Thursday at the following sites:
Arvin High School
Bakersfield High School
East High School
Frontier High School
Golden Valley High School
Highland High School
Independence High School
Kern Valley High School
Mira Monte High School
North High School
Nueva High School
Ridgeview High School
Shafter High School
South High School
Stockdale High School
West High School
Students need to be present to receive their meals.
++Bus route curbside services will be ending during the summer session.++

The Kern High School District will discontinue its Wi-Fi bus routes effective Monday, April 27, 2020 due to extremely low usage by students.  If you are one of the students that did use the Wi-Fi bus route, please contact us at or call 661-827-3149.  **Please note that Wi-Fi connectivity is still available from the parking lots of all KHSD school sites.  Wi-Fi access is also available at most elementary, middle school, & junior high campuses to make access available in local neighborhoods.

School site offices will also be closed through the remainder of the school year & will be very minimally staffed. Please call the school site number available on the KHSD website if you need to request assistance. This number is also posted on the front entry to the school site.

Kern High School District Superintendent's First In Class Awards virtual ceremony

The Kern High School District proudly honors its top students with the Superintendent's First In Class Awards Class of 2020. This year, the District recognizes 113 students who have demonstrated hard work for the past four years. Though we were unable to gather and celebrate these amazing students in person this year, it doesn't mean their accomplishments have gone unnoticed. We wish each student the best of luck and much success as they move on to their next endeavors.

Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) application deadline has been extended to July 15, 2020

The California Department of Social Services and the California Department of Education have announced that the Pandemic EBT (P-EBT) application deadline has been extended to July 15, 2020. Due to schools being closed because of COVID-19, children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals can get up to $365 in food benefits. These benefits are in addition to school pick up meals. These food benefits are called Pandemic-EBT or P-EBT.

KHSD Social Workers create 2020 summer resources video for students and families

Since Kern High School District social workers are unable to connect with students over the summer physically, they are virtually connecting with them. Via video message, they are providing students and families with important resources while school is out. School social workers play an essential role in students' lives. They serve in many roles in the District, including truancy officer, case manager, student and parent advocate, student mediator, counselor, and distributor of resources and crisis intervention.
