KHSD FFA students crowned Livestock Champions during Kern County Fair virtual event

Agriculture students spend all year preparing for the Kern County Fair, and this year, fair preps looked a little bit different. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the fair went virtual. Students still had to care for their animals, but instead of showing them in-person, they created videos. On Thursday, September 30, the fair held its Virtual Crowning of Champions, where over two dozen FFA students across the district walked away champions. Congratulations to all of the students for their hard work and dedication!

Hispanic Heritage Month 2020

The Kern High School District is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by recognizing the rich history and contributions made by Hispanic and Latinx individuals. This year's theme is Hispanic Americans: A History of Serving our Nation.

KHSD Student PSAs: Accessing Mental Health Support

Kern High School District students will be featured in a series of PSAs to inform their peers about the District's supports and services available to them and how to access them. The first PSA focuses on accessing mental health support and features Frontier High School student John Daniel Norombaba.

In this week's KHSD News, the District kicks off Hispanic Heritage Month. From September 15-October 15, we will celebrate the rich history and contributions made by Hispanic and Latinx individuals. Plus, we introduce you to a Frontier senior who is making steps in helping families less fortunate, and we'll show you a special 9/11 tribute held at Kern Valley High School with firefighters.

BHS creates video tribute for annual 9/11 remembrance

Today marks the 19th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks. Each year, Bakersfield High School (BHS) honors the thousands of lives lost that day with a tribute on campus. Due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, BHS canceled its in-person ceremony. However, recognizing this tragic event in U.S. history is still important, and BHS created a commemorative video to share with students during their online instruction.
