The groundbreaking ceremony for the Career Technical Education Center (CTEC) at Independence was held Monday, March 12, 2018, at 7301 Old River Road, the SW corner of Old River Road and Berkshire Road.

Putting together a plan to explore and obtain a career was the focus of the first Kern County Career Expo held on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Rabobank Convention Center.
