Please enjoy this edition of KHSD NEWS, our weekly roundup of the accomplishments of our students, staff, and schools. Today we recognize our incredible bus drivers, our Project BEST senior scholars, and students combining creativity and science. You will also see activities empowering young ladies and numerous examples of the generosity of our students and staff throughout the district.

Kern High School District Regional Occupational Center students returned with many awards and honors, from the 4-day SkillsUSA California State Conference and Skills Competition in Ontario, California.

Some of the Kern High School District’s top scholars were honored at the Project BEST (Black Excellence in Scholarship and Teaching) Senior Scholarship Banquet held at Bakersfield College.

A Centennial High School student participating in the VEX Robotics World Championship joined the Sunrise crew on KGET's morning show today, live from Kentucky. Alana Klopstein talked about her team robot, the intense competition, and how much work goes into engineering projects of this caliber. A team from Frontier High School is also competing on the international stage at this competition!

Two KHSD Video Production teachers appeared on KGET's Sunrise show to talk about the exciting 24 Hour Film Project and to invite the public to view the student made films at the awards ceremony at Maya Cinemas on May 2, 2018.

This week we highlight the incredible accomplishments of the Virtual Enterprise Business Plan Team from Bakersfield High School for their 1st place win at the International Competition in New York City! The 2nd annual STEMposium was held at the Kern County Fairgrounds recently, and featured a number of booths, interactive demonstrations, and career exploration opportunities for our students, and the KHSD students of tomorrow.
