SAT – Reasoning Test (SAT-1)
The SAT Reasoning Test is a measure of the critical thinking skills you’ll need for academic success in college. The SAT assesses how well you analyze and solve problems – skills you learned in school that you’ll need in college. The SAT is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors. Each section of the SAT is scored on a scale of 200 – 800, with two writing sub scores for multiple-choice and the essay. It is administered seven times a year in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and U.S. Territories, and six times a year overseas.
SAT Question Types
The SAT includes a Critical Reading, Math, and Writing section, with a specific number of questions related to content.

Eligible students may receive two fee waivers to take the SAT-1 Tests to be used from 11th grade through graduation.

Ordering
You can order the exam in the following manner:
- Order On-line at www.collegeboard.com
- From mail-in registration, pick up packet at your local high school
- Photo Required for Registration – You must provide a photo with your registration, which will become part of your Admission Ticket. For specifics regarding photo, visit the collegeboard website
- Standby test taking is not permitted. In some cases, you can request Waitlist Status if you miss the last registration deadline, or if your paper registration has been returned unprocessed without enough time to resubmit it. Waitlist Status may be available beginning from the last registration deadline up until five days before test day. Although every effort will be made to seat applicants who request Waitlist Status, we cannot guarantee that you will be admitted to the test center on test day. Those on the Waitlist are seated after all regularly registered test-takers have been admitted and if sufficient test materials, staff and seating are available.
- Test registration on test day at the test center is not available.
