The very first Kern County Career Expo was held on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Rabobank Convention Center. More than 150 local employers brought 500 employees in to speak with students and parents on career options in our community.

this is the first Kern County Career Expo event geared toward middle school students high school students recent graduates where they can come and find out learn more about the different career opportunities in Kern County that are available to firsthand from the employers of Kern County they have a lot of information for amazing kids we have 250 companies represented here this afternoon with over 500 employees from those companies here to talk to kids about careers in their companies are not here to hire employees or more to turn the light on for kids and get them interest career opportunities at the student probably didn't even know existed it start to answer some of those questions like you know what kind of education do you need for a job what the day in the life look like what skills do you need a how much money do you make it start to make those connections this is a great opportunity for the kids to get a better idea of what what options they have they know it's hard to make a choice if you don't know what options are are so this is awesome. That will a natural gas we've got energy here Healthcare here we've got Public Services we've got construction here to keishin here so really all of the industry industry prayers that we have in Kern County are represented your wealth of transportation we have a lot of that Airlines here as well so pretty pretty wide range of a employer share getting to know you and then we will program they also give you a grocery list to show you what like prereqs you need the statistics show that the more career path Focus students are while they're into other and high school middle school on the better they're going to be able to make decisions about what type of education they want and be able to save time and money towards getting their career police officers in my opinion one of the best programs in the nation . we are able to produce viable employees for prospective employers at an event like this within two years we can have an associate's degree in their hand and all the training for them to be qualified technician Santa Ana I want to do I want to I want to go I actually told him to come away getting a excited about a career and getting excited start thinking about a I can do that someday for a living and start to think about putting a plan together for how they can obtain a career goal
