Overview of Program

The Constellation alternative placement program is a highly structured program with a small staff to student ratio providing an increased level of supervision and support through concurrent enrollment with each student’s Kern High School District school of residence.

Students participating in the Constellation alternative placement program will receive supports and services in the following areas:

  • Social Emotional Learning (SEL): These alternative placement programs provide students with evidence based behavioral and therapeutic supports in order to address identified mental health, social emotional, and behavioral needs in the students’ daily educational setting as outlined by the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
  • Multi-Tiered Systems of Support: Supports and services may include a multi-tiered reinforcement system and educationally-related mental health services as specific needs are identified by IEP team members while having access to individual group counseling, behavior intervention services, social work services, psychological services, and/or intervention support services. Students will be served with restorative practices including community circles and layered systems of reinforcement for desired behavior.
  • Academic Access: Students concurrently enrolled at Constellation can be freshman, sophomores, juniors, or seniors. Students can earn credit towards either the graduation or certificate of completion requirements of the Kern High School District.
