Information for Contractors & Vendors during the COVID-19 Health Crisis

The Kern High School District School sites & District Office are closed due to the COVID-19 health crisis.  The District offices are closed to the public & operating with modified hours (7:30-1:30), with minimal office staffing as most of their employees are directed to work from home.  The District would like to assure all of its vendors and contractors that although office is closed and staff is minimized, every effort is being made to prioritize paying those contractors and vendors doing work for the District.  If you need assistance or have questions, please call (661) 827-3100

KHSD’s Facilities Planning Department is among the most productive of such agencies in the state. Since 1991 we have overseen the construction of eight new comprehensive campuses, a new Cafetorium at Kern Valley High School and the Jack Schuetz Special Education Center on the Golden Valley High School Campus. Construction of a new continuation high school is in the design phase and expected to open fall of 2011.

The KHSD’s Facilities Planning Department has also had the responsibility of overseeing the modernization of several existing campuses in recent years including West, Shafter and Highland High Schools. Extensive modernizations for East and Arvin High Schools are in progress. Modernizations for South and North High Schools are presently in the design phase. The responsibilities of the Facilities Planning Department include overseeing:
  • Design consultants
  • Special consultants
  • Inspection Services
  • Division of the State Architects Office – Compliance with all applicable codes and laws
  • Americans with Disabilities Act compliance
  • Construction contract compliance
