Early College Pathway Program
The Kern High School District is excited to partner with Bakersfield College to provide college opportunities for high school students through the Early College Program.
Applications will be accepted for all pathways starting February 14th
for the 2025-2026 school year.
Applications close on March 14th at 5:00 PM.
About Early College
- Students have the opportunity to earn an Associate Degree by the time they graduate from high school. Students who do not participate in all 4 years will earn credits towards a degree, but not an entire degree. Some pathways may not be designed for full degree completion.
- 9th through 12th grade college pathways specifically for KHSD students at two different locations: BC Southwest Campus (BCSW) and KHSD Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC).
- All courses are offered in the evening, after the high school day.
- Transportation is available from school sites to and from CTEC, but transportation is not provided for BCSW classes.
- Each course will meet 2-3 times per week, Monday through Thursday.
- Courses are FREE - tuition and fees are waived by BC, and KHSD provide the required materials.
- Most courses are UC and CSU transferable will count towards various Bachelors Degrees.
- Limited seats are available in each pathway. Applications will be reviewed by a committee and selected based on qualifications and fit for the program.

- Introduction to Health Careers Pathway @CTEC (Sunsetting with Class of 2028)
- Police Science--Associate Degree for Transfer Pathway @BCSW
