Today marks the 19th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks. Each year, Bakersfield High School (BHS) honors the thousands of lives lost that day with a tribute on campus. Due to the
COVID-19 pandemic, BHS canceled its in-person ceremony. However, recognizing this tragic event in U.S. history is still important, and BHS created a commemorative video to share with students during their online instruction.

Teachers across the district are preparing to deliver instruction as they have never done before. KERO spoke to several Fine Arts instructors about how they will be adapting their lesson plans and getting creative for when students log on for the new school year.

The Kern County Superintendent of Schools, in partnership with the Kern Education Pledge and the Truancy Reduction and Attendance Coalition of Kern (TRACK), launched a distance learning engagement campaign titled “Present, Engaged and Supported!” featuring a PSA and tips for distance learning success.

The Kern High School District Board of Trustees voted to begin the 2020-2021 school year in a distance learning model at a special board meeting held on Wednesday, July 15.
