The Kern High School District will no longer serve meals on Fridays beginning the week of January 11. Meals will still be distributed to children ages 2 to 18 Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 2:30 pm at comprehensive high schools and Nueva Continuation High School. Then from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at Arvin High School. We will still provide Friday meals, weekend meals, and holiday meals during Thursday's distribution.

For over a decade, KHSD art teachers have chosen students to participate in the Panorama Invitational at Bakersfield College's Jones Gallery. Typically, their pieces are framed and put on display. Due to COVID-19, Jones Gallery created a virtual art show.

Each year, around 200 high school students test their knowledge of the U.S. Constitution and compete in the We the People Congressional Hearings competition hosted by the Kern County Superintendent of Schools. KCSOS held the competition virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Entirely created, organized, and facilitated by students at Golden Valley High School, THRIVE is a premiere support group that operates in providing assistance in school work, building powerful bonds, and supporting the mental health and emotional needs of their peers.
