Project Black Excellence in Scholarship and Teaching (BEST) is a collaboration between the Kern High School District, California State University, Bakersfield, and local business partners. Each year, students who exemplify academic excellence are celebrated and awarded scholarships.

This week's KHSD News will introduce you to two Stockdale students whose medical device inventions earned them international accolades. ROC/CTEC students team up with an energy technology company to develop a marketing plan. Video production students mark their spot at the top at a Central Valley film festival. Plus, Kern High Network hit the pitch with the Highland Boys Soccer Team.

The Kern High School District is thrilled to celebrate the Class of 2021 with in-person commencement ceremonies.

Mental Health Awareness Month has been observed each May in the United States since 1949. All month long, Kern High School District mental health professionals, staff, and students will be sharing videos and resources to bring awareness to the mental health struggles and help reduce the stigmas so many are facing.

The Kern High School District Board of Trustees has proclaimed May 12, 2021, as National School Nurse Day in the District. School nurses are dedicated to meeting our students' needs by improving the delivery of health care in our schools. They contribute to our local community by helping students stay healthy, in school, and ready to learn.
