At-Home COVID Testing

The Kern High School district received At-Home Rapid Antigen COVID test kits from the State of California to provide to students. Each test kit contains two tests for students to use at home. These tests are designed to help slow the spread of COVID-19 after the holiday break. Students can test immediately, if they get sick with symptoms, or if they are exposed to someone with COVID-19.

** At-home tests may be used if exposed or symptomatic to determine if positive. However, at this time, only clinical tests or KHSD supervised rapid tests will be accepted to reduce a 10 day isolation or quarantine period.  Staff and/or students may make appointments via this website to test at the district office or by contacting their school site. Over The Counter tests or “At Home” tests may not be used to shorten a 10 day isolation period.**

There is no requirement to use the test. The test is not meant to replace our current testing program or change existing protocols. Each school site will reach out to students, parents, and guardians to inform them of how the tests will be distributed. Parents or guardians should contact their child’s school if their student has symptoms, tests positive, or has any known exposure.
