Superintendent’s First In Class

 A total of 93 Superintendent’s First In Class Awards recipients from the KHSD’s 18 comprehensive campuses were recognized during the annual ceremony at the Doubletree Hotel on June 29, 2017.

Friends, families, and KHSD staff were welcomed by KHSD Superintendent Dr. Bryon Schaefer, who also presented these outstanding students with a commemorative plaque, a plaque for their parents, and a scholarship for $1,000.

Each award winners name and school was read during the ceremony, along with the name of the college or University they will be attending, their intended major and career plans, and the other schools and programs they were accepted to attend.

All funding for the First In Class scholarships is donated each year by private citizens, companies, or organizations. The two largest sponsors this year, accorded “Platinum” level honors, were Chevron and Kern Schools Federal Credit Union.

“Bronze” level contributors this year were Louis and Sheryl Barbich, S.C. Anderson, Inc., Ordiz Melby Architects, Soils Engineering, Inc., and American Business Machines.

Donations accorded the “Friends of the KHSD” level were received from Bob Hampton, Robert Moss, David and Katherine Gay, Harvey L. Hall, California Water Service Company, and Secure Systems.
