Academic Decathlon Preps for State

If practice makes perfect, students on the Stockdale High School (StHS) Academic Decathlon team are well on their way to a stellar performance at the state competition.  They’ve already set their sights on nationals and are currently ranked 13th in California out of 550 teams.  The dedicated students recently finished first in the Kern County Academic Decathlon and are now putting in hours of research, essay writing, and interview skill-building for the upcoming event.

These kids are insanely smart, incredibly talented, and academically intimidating. They are treasures, truly.” - Drew Hallum, Advisor, StHS

The theme of the contest is World War II, and all students will participate in the following categories: essay, prepared and impromptu speech, interview, literature, history, science, math, economics, music, and art.

The state Academic Decathlon is set for March 23-26, 2017, in Sacramento, California.
