2024 AKA Student Recognition Luncheon

On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, students in 9th-12th grade were recognized for their hard work, dedication, and academic excellence at the annual Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA) Student Recognition Luncheon.

KHSD Superintendent Dr. Michael Zulfa welcomed students and guests, followed by a program overview delivered by Harriet Edwards, AKA President, Chris Dutton, KHSD Project BEST Coordinator, and Kesha Owens, KHSD and YWEL Advisor.

These students were recognized as AKA scholars as incoming freshmen for achieving the honor roll. They made a commitment as they began their high school journey to continue diligent work in the classroom and remain on track to meet A-G and graduation requirements.

Keynote Speaker and past KHSD student, Channing Stewart shared stories of her new journey as an undergraduate student at Hampton University in Virginia. Her insightful advice to current students emphasized the importance of perseverance and remaining connected with our local community.

The afternoon concluded with an awards celebration, including recognition of the top senior scholars who had achieved a 4.0-grade point average or above.
