Return to Athletics: COVID-19

This page will be used to update the guidance we receive from the Kern County Department of Public Health related to the return of athletics in Kern County.  It will provide you with important information as to what we can, and cannot, in during a safe return to athletics.

Return to Conditioning will start on October 28, 2020
 
KHSD Fall sports can return to conditioning under the following guidelines:
  • Athletic Teams and Cheer only
    • Band, Colorguard, Drumline added (10-20-2020)
    •  
  • Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Cheer, JV Tennis, Swim
  • Outdoor conditioning only
  • Cohorts of 25 (Total)
  • No equipment can be used
    • Exceptions:  Cones and ladders are permissible but must be cleaned prior to and after use

COVID-19: Return to Conditioning

 

General Guidelines for Conditioning:

  • Cohorts of 25 Total
  • Student must bring their own water
  • No parents, no visitors
  • Equipment manager
  • Masks must be worn at all times when not actively participating in conditioning
  • Must always be 6 feet apart and practicing good physical/social distancing
  • Must have a 2.0 once 1st quarter grades are posted
  • Must be completely cleared
  • Only 8 hours per week
  • Only can hold conditioning on campus: Exception Cross Country, Swim
  • Temperature checks of your cohort
  • No lingering or hanging-out after conditioning

 

Prior to Start of Conditioning:

  • Cleared Student Athletes and Coaches
  • Student Athlete and Coaches Education
    • Coronavirus Awareness
    • Proper Mask Wearing
    • Self-Screening Tool
    • Staggered Arrival and Departure guidelines
    • Conditioning Requirements
      • Self-Screened prior to arrival
      • Active temperature check upon arrival
    • Student Athletes hydration (bring your own water)

 

Conditioning:

  • Active Temperature check
  • COVID-19 Monitoring Form Questionnaire
  • Adhere to proper Cohorting
    • Arrival/Departure times are staggered
