Welcome to our Board of Trustees meeting. We appreciate your interest and encourage your participation in this meeting. Your presence is evidence of your interest in helping the Kern High School District to attain the goal of excellence in public education for all high school students and adults in our community. Thank you for sharing your time with us.

Meetings

Regular meetings are normally held at 7:00 p.m. in the Board Room at the KHSD Administrative and Support Services Office, 5801 Sundale Avenue, on the first Monday of each month. Some exceptions periodically occur. Special meetings are called when necessary at a time which is announced in advance. All meetings are open to the public. The 2009 schedule of Regular Meetings follows:

Note: There will be two Regular Meetings in March 2009, but no Regular Meeting in April 2009 due to Easter Vacation schedule.

Board Agenda

During all regular and special meetings, the Board follows and acts upon an agenda composed of items presented from the Superintendent's Office, or the Business, Instruction and Personnel divisions. At least 72 hours before each regular meeting - and 24 hours before each special meeting - an agenda is posted at the District Office and at each school site for public information. You are welcome to receive a copy of the board agenda and supporting information either for a specific meeting or on a regular basis. Agendas are also available at the entrance to the Board Room prior to each meeting. The administrative report, which is included on the agenda as a consent item, expedites action on routine matters. Action is taken on all consent items at one time.

Legal Authority

The Board is responsible to the State of California and the local citizens for providing an educational program for District students in grades nine through twelve. Its actions must conform with:

• The Constitutions of the United States and the State of California
• Federal and California statutes and court decisions
• The California Administrative Code, Title V, Education Code

Minutes

Minutes record all Board action. Once adopted, the minutes are public records, available for inspection at the District Office and electronically here.
