Text Box: readers.
The Research and Class Links pages of the library webpage have been expanded. The library staff would like to invite all clients to check out the useful links and make recommendations for additions. Use the Contact page of the library webpage to share great class and research links.
Text Box: The Library Webpage is now updated. Merriwether, the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) has a new look, Research and Class Links have been checked, updated, and now include URLs new to the collection, and there have been several changes on the Database page.
On the Database page, EBSCO’s ABC-CLIO History and Greenwood’s Daily Life have been added to Stockdale High Library’s suite of online subscriptions. The District’s staff of librarians hope that this will encourage more research projects and visits from the History Social Studies classes.
Gale’s Science database has been Text Box: dropped due to cost and apparent lack of interest and use on site. Still there is plenty of Science to be found in Gale’s Student Resource Center Gold.

Merriwether’s new look is really just a background color change. It is turquoise now instead of green. The library staff hopes clients will agree that the shade is much more appealing.
Also, when a client uses “Title” to access the OPAC there is a New Items icon that links to a list of new materials in the library. This is a great feature for bleeding edge Text Box: Catalog and Database Changes on LMC Webpage
Text Box: Information Literacy and the 21st-Century Learner:
http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/aasl/aaslproftools/learningstandards/AASL_LearningStandards.pdf
Text Box: “Learners use skills, resources, and tools to: 1) inquire, think critically, and gain knowledge, 2) draw conclusions, make informed decisions, apply knowledge to new situations, and create new knowledge, 3) share knowledge and participate ethically and productively as members of our Text Box: democratic society, and 4) pursue personal and aesthetic growth.” These are the Standards for the 2st-Century Learner as identified by the American Association of School Librarians. To learn more about the standards and their four elements, skills, dispositions in action, Text Box: responsibilities and self-assessment strategies, check out the pdf link above. “Combined, these four elements build a learner who can thrive in a complex information environment”
Like intelligences, “literacies”are multiple. :)
