Silver Mustang Band & Color Guard

INFORMATION

The Stockdale High School Silver Mustang Band & Color Guard have a strong tradition of excellence since it's beginnings 16 years ago.  They have won many awards including tournament sweepstakes in various parts of California.  The organization has consistently maintained a membership  of approximately 175 members for the past 16 years.  The band and color guard take pride in their accomplishments.  They enjoy a full year of activity from marching band performances in the fall and performances with the concert bands, color guard, drumline, orchestra, and jazz band in the winter and spring.  They spend a lot of time together in rehearsals, performances and traveling.  Not to mention the friendships that continue outside of the official meeting times.

Being in the Stockdale High School Band and Color Guard not only helps the membership to grow musically but it also is a place where students can grow as people.  It gives them opportunities to build leadership skills, to learn to work on a team, and interact in a healthy social environment.  Being in the band and color guard also fosters dedication, commitment, endurance, hard work, responsibility, and organizing one's time.

The Band & Color Guard perform at all home football games in the fall.  In addition they compete in field show competitions throughout the state of California.  Most of the competitions are local but some are out of the area.  Because of it's size and experience the Band & Color Guard perform in the Open Class or 5A Division at most competitions.  The group begins working on their seasons show at band camp two weeks before school starts and continue to add to it and  perfect throughout September, October, and November.  The Band & Color Guard also performs in area local parades like the Veteran's Day and Christmas Parade.  Marching season is over by the beginning of December. The group then divides up into two concert bands, winter color guard, and winter drumline.
