Director of Guidance

Welcome to the South High School Guidance Department. It is an honor to serve in the capacity of Director of Guidance at the high school that I graduated from. As a student I was proud to be a Rebel, and as a member of the South High staff, that pride continues today.

The Guidance Department consists of six credentialed counselors, two Community Counselors, a College-Career Technician and the Guidance Department Secretary.
We are committed to the Vision upheld by South High School, that graduates will be responsible citizens and life-long learners, with the skills to make decisions and choices, and the confidence to achieve. Our goal is to work with students, teachers, and parents to help students reach their highest potential.

The Guidance Department provides comprehensive counseling services to all students. The services provided are educational planning, which includes evaluating post-secondary options, academic assessing and monitoring; career counseling and personal counseling, particularly as crises occur. Additional counseling services and responsibilities include enrolling students, monitoring student progress and addressing
behavioral issues. We also provide services to "at-risk" students.

We encourage parents to be an active part of our Guidance Department team by staying aware and involved in their students' education. You are welcome to call us with any questions or concerns. The school's motto for this year is Prepare for Success. No Excuses. Just Do It! By working together, we will be able to reach our goal.
