Dress Code

Student dress should be appropriate for the learning environment. The following are not permitted and are subject to disciplinary action:

  • Clothing which is distractive, disruptive, or interferes with the learning process and/or school climate is inappropriate at Shafter High School.

  • Tops, blouses and dresses with low cut fronts and any see-through apparel that does not cover undergarments.

  • Tube-tops, halters, tank tops or other similar types of clothing.

  • Shoulders and midriffs must be covered.

  • Any clothing or apparel displaying alcohol, tobacco products, drugs, gang affiliations, sexual content or offensive language.

  • Any item that is potentially dangerous and could cause physical injury to oneself or others (i.e. sharp objects, safety pins, metal studs).

  • Hats must be removed when entering classrooms and offices.

 Electronic devices:

  • Cell phones are to be turned off during school hours.

  • Students are only allowed to use cell phones before and after school. Pagers, radios, CD players, tape players, and laser pens and other electronic devices are not permitted at school.

  • These items will be confiscated and returned to parents/guardians only.

  • Shafter High School is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged electronic communication devices or any charges incurred as a result.
