Course Description
Spanish 1 SP is designed to strengthen the
language skills of the Spanish-speaking student. Students expand their existent
proficiency in Spanish, building on their current listening and speaking skills,
as well as developing their reading and writing abilities in contexts beyond
their daily life.

Course Description
This course helps students develop competency in
speaking, listening, reading and writing, with primary emphasis on oral
communication and comprehension. Exposure to other cultures through various
activities helps focus the student on cultural similarities as well as
differences. A variety of communicative, multimedia, audio and video techniques
provide students with opportunities to learn the language in many exciting and
interesting real-life contexts.
Spanish/Conversational 1

Course Description
This course is designed to enhance the native language literacy skills of these
Spanish-speaking-only students. Students will increase their level of
proficiency in Spanish, which will help them successfully transition into
English language instruction. The course will address the literacy needs
of students through literature that affirms their culture, history, and identity
as well as through other academic and informational texts. The focus will
be placed on grammar, reading and writing processes, the enhancement of
listening and speaking skills, and the development of academic skills that will
help the students be successful in all subjects.

Course Description
Spanish 2 SP is designed to continue
strengthening the language skills of the Spanish-speaking student. Students
continue to expand their existent proficiency in Spanish, improving all skills.
Particular emphasis is given to polishing writing skills.

communicative, multimedia, audio and video techniques provide students with
opportunities to learn the language in many exciting and interesting contexts.

This course continues to help the student expand
proficiency in all skills while emphasizing reading, grammatical accuracy and
writing skills. In particular, the student prepares to take the Advanced
Placement Spanish Language Exam offered by the College Board. The student
continues to focus on conversing, describing, and narrating in the present, past
and future as well as expressing opinions and discussing hypothetical events.

cultural similarities as well as differences. A variety of communicative,
multimedia, audio and video techniques provide students with opportunities to

Prerequisites: Spanish 4 AP Language or Spanish 2 P with a "B" or better, or
approval from instructor.
Course Description
This course continues to help the student expand
proficiency in all skills while emphasizing reading, grammatical accuracy and
writing skills. In particular, the student prepares to take the Advanced
Placement Spanish Language Exam offered by the College Board. Students
learn the significant value representative of significant genres, literary
periods, and geographical areas. The students read authentic editions of
Medieval and Golden Age Literature, Nineteenth and Twentieth-Century Literature.
Nonetheless, the student continues to focus on conversing, describing, and
narrating in the present, past and future as well as expressing opinions and
discussing hypothetical events, analyzing themes, comparing and contrasting
various authors, ect. Exposure to other cultures through various
activities helps focus the student on cultural similarities as well as
differences. A variety of communicative, multimedia, audio and video techniques
provide students with opportunities to learn the language in many exciting and
interesting contexts.
