Daily Lessons In the HIV Education Program
This program is offered for 5 consecutive school days.  The five-lesson curriculum meets the California State Mandates of The California Comprehensive Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Prevention Education Act (SB-71).


Day 1 Ground Rules; HIV 101 (4 Openings & 4 Fluids); Question Box; and Responsible Decision Making;  HELPR Card.

 

Day 2 What is HIV?;  Progression of the HIV Infection; Symptoms; Peer Teaching jigsaw activity;  Secondary Infections and Complications.

 

Day 3 Transmission of the Virus (Z-Virus Activity);  Parent Interview Assignment; HIV Antibody Test;   Failure & Success Rates of Condoms;  Methods of Reducing the Risks.

 

Day 4 Goal Setting; Effective Communication Skills;  Practice Refusal Skill Techniques;  Responsible Decisions.

 

Day 5 Current HIV/AIDS Statistics; Compassion; Societal Issues; AIDS Quilt; Answering "Question Box" Concerns.
