WORKS CITED CHECKLIST

Giving credit to the sources you use is an important part of the research process.  A works cited list appears at the end of a research paper/project, and it provides all of the information necessary for a reader to locate the sources you cite in your paper/project.  All sources cited in your paper MUST appear in your works cited list; likewise, all sources listed in your works cited list MUST appear in your paper/project.

PERFORMANCE GOALS

 1.      You will complete a minimum of 5 “Works Cited Information Slips” following the “Examples of Works Cited” handout.   They will be graded according to the “Works Cited Performance Rubric”.

 2.      You will complete an accurate works cited page. To get a superior grade, the works cited list must contain more than 5 sources.  This list will be graded according to the “Works Cited Performance Rubric”.    

MINIMUM NUMBER OF SOURCES  *

 5 sources is the minimum number.  These sources MUST include the following: 

1 encyclopedia only  (this can be a regular print encyclopedia OR an online encyclopedia – not both)

1 or more subject specific reference book(s)

1 or more book(s)

1 or more periodical article(s) (magazine, journal, or newspaper)

1 or more web page(s)

 * To achieve a superior score on the "Works Cited Rubric", you will need to include more than the minimum number of sources

        This checklist is worth 5 points towards the total grade.

        All computer sources – Turn in page 1 of each web site you plan to use, along with  
        this checklist.  Be sure that the web address is  printed on each of the pages.

        A minimum of 5 “Works Cited Information Slips” must be completed and turned in.

        A final works cited list must be turned in.
