2010-2011 Mayor’s Scholarship
Foundation – Must be a resident of
California School Employees Association is offering a scholarship for a student whose parent or guardian is a member in good standing with CSEA Chapter #81 for at least one year. Student must be planning on entering a university, community college, trade or vocational school. Student must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0, including all subjects taken in grades 10, 11, and the first semester of 12th. If you have less than a 3.0 you may be considered for a book allowance. For more information and an application, see Mrs. Woody. Deadline is March 26th.
The California Table Grape Commission
is accepting applications for
three $16,000 scholarships. This is available to 2010 graduating seniors who
plan to attend a four year college or university in
Caltrans District 6/Central Region is pleased to announce two (2) $1000 scholarships for students related to current, former, or
retired Caltrans District 6 employees who will be graduating from high school
in 2010. For more information, and an application stop by Mrs. Woody’s office.
Deadline is March 31st.
Martha “Marti” Ortiz Scholarship- Must hold a minimum 2.5 GPA, college bound,
interest and participation in athletics and/or performing arts. Pick up an
application in Mrs. Woody’s office. Deadline is March 23rd.
Colonel Harry Hardy Memorial
Scholarship- Student must
demonstrate a special interest in some field of the livestock industry, must
have carried on a successful project raising livestock for at least two years
during high school. The applicant must be taking agriculture courses in high
school and/or have an agriculture major
in college. Applications are available in Mrs. Woody’s office. Deadline is
Friday, March 19th.
The Calcot-Seitz Foundation has a $ 3000 scholarship available to seniors
who major in agriculture at a four-year school that offers a degree in
agriculture. The scholarship are payable over a one to three-year period.
Scholarship forms and requirements for applying can be found on Calcot’s
website at www.calcot.com. The deadline is March 31, 2010.
Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority invites all African American high school seniors to apply for a book
scholarship. Students who plan to attend
vocational schools, college/universities, and the military are encouraged to
apply. Pick up an application in Mrs. Woody’s office or download the
application from www.aka-koo.org/scholarships.
Applications must be postmarked by March 19th.
APRIL
Sun Pacific is offering one $20,000 scholarship for a student
earning a bachelor’s degree, and $3000 to a student who will attend an
accredited trade school or community college. Applicants must be regular,
full-time employees of Sun Pacific or the child of a Sun Pacific employee. Pick
up an application in Mrs. Woody’s office. Deadline is April 23rd.
Bakersfield West Rotary is offering a scholarship on the basis of total
achievement, including participation in school activities, athletics, community
service, and over-all academic effort. Those with community service are
encouraged to apply. Pick up an application in Mrs. Woody’s office. Deadline is
April 19th.
San Joaquin Community Hospital
Volunteer Services is offering a
scholarship to students who are pursing a medical/healthcare related career. Must
have a minimum GPA of 3.2. Pick up an application in Mrs. Woody’s office.
Deadline is April 8th.
The Kern County Officials Association
is offering a $2000 scholarship to
a male and female athlete that exemplifies excellence in the classroom and has demonstrated
exceptional sportsmanship and teamwork in their respective sport. Must have
participated in a minimum of one season of varsity athletics, and have a
cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. Pick up an application and more information
from Mrs. Woody’s office. Deadline is May 7th.

Bakersfield Keynotes is offering a scholarship to graduating seniors who
plan on majoring/minoring in music-either performance or education. Vocal music
and instrumentalists are encouraged to apply. Pick up an application in Mrs.
Woody’s office. Deadline is April 19th.
Nathan Lynch Memorial Scholarship
Fund – If you are planning on
attending a technical/trade school, business school, nursing school, or 2 or 4
year college you are encouraged to apply. Deadline is April 16th.

North of the River Chamber of
Commerce Scholarship – Must have
applied for admission to a two- or four-year college or university. Must have
maintained a minimum grade point average of 2.75 or above and have demonstrated
financial need. Pick up and application and list a items that need to be
included in Mrs. Woody’s office. Deadline is April 1st.
Grant Glenn Young Memorial
Scholarship – will be offered to
children of Kern County Fire Department personnel in the amount of $500. This
scholarship will be given to a high school senior pursuing higher education at
either a college or at a vocational training program. Pick up an application
and more information from Mrs. Woody’s office. Deadline is April 2nd.

Auxiliary offers a $1000
scholarship to a qualified
The 2010 Student-View Scholarship
Program is offering $8000 worth of
scholarships to high school seniors who plan to attend a four-year college,
community/junior college or career school. Simply log on to www.student-view.com and complete a
15-20 minute application survey about colleges in your area. Scholarship
deadline is April 22nd.
Civil Service Employees Insurance
Company (CSE) will award up to two
$1000 and eight $500 scholarships. Must have a 3.0 GPA. Applicant’s parent or
legal guardian must be currently employed full-time by------or if retired or
deceased, must have been employed full-time by------government entity. You can

California Wine
Grape Growers Foundation is offering a scholarship for seniors whose parent(s) or legal
guardian(s) are Vineyard Employees of a California Wine Grape Grower. You can
