Citizens' Oversight Comittee

Kern County voters approved in November 2004 the Kern High School District's Measure N, a $219 million general obligation school construction bond. District trustees proposed Measure N in order to fund construction of, among other things, four new comprehensive campuses, modernization efforts at all existing district schools, and a vocational facility for Special Education students. The new schools and other construction are needed to accommodate strong enrollment growth expected to take KHSD student enrollment growth from current 35,000 to more than 43,000 in the next seven years.

State law requires that the formation of a Citizens Oversight Committee to ensure that bond funds are properly used. This committee has been formed. Members include:

  • Brian Todd, Chair
  • Grover Waldon, Vice Chair
  • Ken Vetter
  • Tom Good
  • Mike Gutierrez
  • Rolly Rhodes
  • Gary Sheetz
  • Dawn Silberberg

The next upcoming meeting to be determine. All minutes of Committe meetings will be made available on this website upon adoption

All Committee proceedings shall be open to the public and shall be subject to the provisions of the Ralph M. Brown Act. All documents received by the Committee and reports issued by the Committee shall be a matter of public record and be made available on an Internet website maintained by the governing body of the school district. [Education Code §15280(b)]
