Citizens' Oversight ComitteeKern County voters approved in November 2004 the Kern High School District's Measure N, a $219 million general obligation school construction bond. District trustees proposed Measure N in order to fund construction of, among other things, four new comprehensive campuses, modernization efforts at all existing district schools, and a vocational facility for Special Education students. The new schools and other construction are needed to accommodate strong enrollment growth expected to take KHSD student enrollment growth from current 35,000 to more than 43,000 in the next seven years.
