Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 5:10 p.m. by Blaine Hawkins.
Previous Minutes
Minutes for October 2 and October 25, 2007 were approved by Chairman Hawkins and 2nd by Jennifer Stevens. Mrs. Stevens pointed out that part of the sentence from the October 2nd minutes were missing and it was noted to be corrected.
Addition to the minutes requested by Linda Morales were discussed and approved to be added to the October 25th minutes.

New Business
Classroom Attendance
It was mentioned the importance of teacher taking attendance in class. WAR reports can be corrected so that students’ absence/attendance can be corrected that maybe the substitute teacher may have missed. Per contract, absence reports must be turned in by 4 p.m. each day. Absences must be cleared within 72 hours or it turns into a cut on the students’ record. If there is a problem the parent should contact the Dean of Retention.
Mr. Hodgson mentioned that attendance has been up the past 2 months.
Finals
Finals are given only on assigned dates, December 19th, 20th and 21st. If they have a valid reason for missing finals may be made up. Students must meet with counselors to discuss absence. Parents may be asked to sign a form regarding the absence.
A letter informing parents of dates and times for finals will be mail soon.
Alternative School Site Council Members
The student alternate will be made regular member. Chairperson can select member/student to be on School Site council. Chairperson Hawkins motioned Natalia Ornelas be made a regular member of the School Site Council and Erin Rader be the teacher alternative as she will not be able to make regular meetings due to schedule conflict. Motion was second by Blanca.

School Goals
Question Asked
Ms. Cavazos replied that the students are tested in elementary schools and AHS get a report from the schools. They are re-tested during the summer. Arrangements are made for students to come to the high school certain testing dates transportation is provided for students to come taken back home. This is done before school starts so that students are not taken out of their classes during the regular school year.

Call to Order
· The meeting was called to order at 5:08 p.m.
New Business
· Welcome and introductions were made by everyone at the meeting.
Election of new members:
· Elisa Kintz discussed a new Chair person. She mentioned that she’s enjoyed being chairperson but it was time to hand it over to someone else. She will still be involved with the School Site Council as a Certified Representative.
· Lavonne Blessing nominated Blaine Hawkins as Chairperson. Ed chalk seconds the motion. Mr. Hawkins accepted the position of Chairperson.
· Blaine Hawkins proceeded to take over the meeting as the new chairperson.
· Lavonne Blessing nominated Christy James as secretary. Blanca Cavazos seconds the motion.
· Christy James nominated Lavonne Blessing as parliamentarian and it was approved by all.
Robert Rules of Order
Chair recognized Lavonne Blessing who will discuss the Robert Rules Board at our next regular meeting.
Plan Future Meeting Dates
· Elisa Kintz motioned that meetings be held on the first Tuesdays of the month. Lavonne Blessing seconds the motion.
School Site Council Training
· There will be training on October 25th at the Kern County Superintendent of Schools training office at 2000 University Square, Bakersfield.
· Those wanting to attend signed up so that the list can be given to Hilda Rivero so reservations and payment can be made.
· Jennifer Stevens will attend a special meeting in Pasadena on Thursday, October 4th.
· There will be a special meeting after the training on Thursday, October 25th.
· Cynthia Brakeman mentioned the importance of attending the meeting and training for each member of the council.
Data and Goals
· Blanca Cavazos discussed the School Improvement Plan. School goals, the application process for the QEIA (Quality Educational Instruction Act) grant. Mentioned that migrant students can only be tutored by migrant tutors. More information to be discussed at future meeting.
