Economics is the study of unlimited wants competing with limited resources. This course discusses world economic problems, economic systems, world economics, micro-concepts, macro-concepts, and consumer economics. Projects and discussions are designed to stimulate critical thinking. A goal is to produce students who will be sound in economic principles.

Economics 12 Honors

Semester 1 and 2
Grade 12
Credit: 5 per semester, One semester course
Prerequisites: Application, parent permission, submission of writing samples or other school work for evaluation, teacher recommendations. Overall G.P.A. of 3.00 or higher.
Economics 12H is designed to study human efforts to satisfy unlimited wants using scarce resources. Areas of study include economic systems, economic institutions, markets, demand, supply, prices, consumer economics, and the U.S. Stock Market. Heavy emphasis is made to differentiate the curriculum by requiring the active use of critical thinking skills, in depth individual and group projects, creativity, research, and community resources. Major enhancement activities include a ten week stock market simulation competing on a statewide basis and an economic family history requiring research and oral interviews.

Prerequisites: None for 12; Qualify for the ESL program for 12 ESL

The Economics 12 ESL course is designed to meet the needs of students who speak a language other than English. Oral and written participation in the students primary language is allowed so as to give higher level content to material.
