ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES
Arvin High School’s attendance policies are designed to instill sound behavior patterns necessary for success. In most instances, attendance is a habit that is formed now, which will continue your career. With the usual number of illnesses, you should not miss more than 10 school days a semester. You will be required to make up all work missed during an absence and this should be made up immediately upon your return to school. Excessive absences, excused or unexcused, are the primary reason for student failure and in the future may be the reason you may be dismissed from a job.
YOU
1. Attend class everyday.
2. Be accountable for your own actions.
3. Know that teachers will notify the student, parent, and counselor when you have been excessively absent, and indicate how those absences are affecting the student’s grades.
4. Realize that if you miss more than 18 days or more in a semester you may be in danger of failing a class.
5. Respect yourself and others.
CLEARING ABSENCES:
Absences may be cleared in the following manner:

student who has to leave the school due to an emergency of for medical reasons
is required to check out in the attendance office. An off-campus pass will be
provided if the student has a verifiable reason for leaving. A phone call or a
note from home MUST be brought in advance for requests to leave campus. No
student will be permitted to leave without a pass.
