School Boundaries

The KHSD School Attendance Boundaries Map was prepared by the KHSD Research & Planning Department. This map is intended for general boundary information only and does not replace officially recorded documents.  Due to computer system hardware and software limitations and variances, online maps may be difficult to interpret. Per Board directive, students attend the school where their parent/guardian lives.  If you are not sure which school your child should attend, please visit the link Find My School and type in your home address.

Upcoming Boundary Changes

On April 3, 2017, the Kern High School District Board of Trustees approved the criteria and timeline to relieve overcrowding at Frontier High School.  The plans were presented to the Board of Trustees at the June 26, 2017 Board Meeting.  


The proposed plans are: 

The Kern High School District would like to solicit input from community members regarding the proposed boundary change in the northwest.  A boundary committee was formed to create and review several proposed boundary changes.  This boundary change affects the following schools:  Centennial, Frontier, Liberty, North, & Shafter. 


The Kern High School District will be hosting three outreach meetings where community members will be able to view the proposed changes and ask questions regarding the plans.  The meetings will focus on gathering input and feedback from residents within the proposed boundaries.  The community’s input will be summarized and shared with the KHSD Board of Trustees.  If you cannot attend one of the meetings, you can email the district at with your comments.

The deadline for public comment is July 31st.  The information will be gathered and provided to the Board for review.  Final approval by the Board will take place on August 7, 2017.  The boundary change will effect only incoming freshman starting the fall of 2018.
