Students Gather Gold

Eighty-five KHSD students representing 8 Regional Occupational Center (ROC) programs participated in the SkillsUSA 2017 Region 2 Leadership and Skills Conference held in Paso Robles this past February.

KHSD students from Career Technical Education (CTE) classes at Foothill, Frontier, West, North, and Ruggenberg Career Center also took part in the annual skills showcase featuring nearly 1,100 registered high school and collegiate competitors from throughout central California.

KHSD students brought home 30 gold, 18 silver, and 13 bronze medals.  Winners will advance to the State Conference which will be held in April in  San Diego.

SkillsUSA is a national organization that promotes vocational training and competition at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels.  It boasts over 300,000 members and the organization’s mission is to prepare students for the workforce by instilling interpersonal, leadership, and vocational skills.
