General
Scholarship Information
Scholarship committees
generally look at or ask for the following:
1) Academic
record - either will request to have a certain GPA or might even ask
for your class rank as well and scores.
2) Community involvement – Offices held at your high
school, church events, or any kind of contribution to your community.
3) They will want a
detailed essay about certain topics (e.g. future plans and goals,
contribution to your community or personal achievements, background
influences, and financial need etc.)
4) Letters of recommendations – You can ask your
teachers, counselors, or coaches, to write you a letter of
recommendation but be sure that you give them ample time.
5) SAR Report - This is a detail report of
your financial aid application – usually you will get this report after you
apply for the FAFSA in your second semester.
6) Random Essay Topics:
Some essay questions don’t seem directly
related to your education, but committees use them to test your creativity
and get a more well-rounded sense of your personality. Samples:
Choose a person or persons you admire and explain why. Choose a book
or books that have affected you deeply and explain why.

Transcripts:
Seniors if you
need an official transcript sent with your scholarship application see
Mrs. Hutchinson in the Registrar’s Office. She accepts applications
thru the week, and processes official and unofficial transcripts on Thursdays.
Please fill out request form carefully with completed address and
to attention of person it will be going to. An official transcript
is signed, sealed, and mailed from the high school to its destination and
will not be handed to you. You may pick up a regular
transcript from Mrs. Hutchinson. If the scholarship application
requests an official transcript to be
mailed with the application then note on your transcript request and Mrs.
Hutchinson will forward the official transcript to Mrs. Fowler to be
mailed with the application. If Mrs. Fowler mails your application
it is very important that you get the material to be mailed to her at
least 5 days before the deadline. Please plan ahead.
