Frontier High students collecting shoes for charity

Frontier High School students and faculty are putting their best foot forward this month during a shoe collection drive for charity.

The collection of new and gently worn shoes began Oct. 14 and will conclude Oct. 29. Shoes collected will be forwarded to Soles4Souls, a charity which has distributed more than 15 million pairs of shoes to people in need all over the world.

“Projects like Soles4Souls provide Frontier students and the community opportunities to make a real difference not only in our community but around the world,” said Dan Shannon, Principal of Frontier High School. “Soles4Souls is a meaningful, worthwhile cause that positively impacts our community and inherently impacts the lives of our students through service learning and volunteerism,” Shannon added.

“We wanted to do something where we could not only involve our student body…but also the entire community of Bakersfield,” said Austin Hacker, the school’s Associated Student Body (ASB) President.

“If you have a couple of pair of new or gently worn shoes in your closet or garage that you don’t wear anymore,” said Austin, “…just drop them off at Frontier High School and, with the help of Soles4Souls, the shoes will go on the feet of children and adults around the world”.
