Last of 2011 diplomas to be awarded at KHSD summer school graduation

Students from about 20 Kern High School District (KHSD) campuses will be awarded high school diplomas on Friday, July 15, during the Summer School Graduation ceremony to be held at Bakersfield High School (BHS) starting at 10 a.m.

More than 300 students will be honored during the ceremony to be conducted in BHS's Harvey Auditorium. Graduate caps and gowns will reflect the colors of their home school.

The majority of those honored will be seniors who, during summer school, earned credits necessary to satisfy KHSD graduation requirements, explained Geri Antoine, the KHSD administrator coordinating the event. Some of those to be honored may be graduating early, added Antoine, who is Assistant Principal for Administration at Golden Valley High.

Mike Williams, a member of the KHSD Board of Trustees, will be the ceremony's featured speaker.
