The Kern High School District (KHSD) is headquartered in Bakersfield, California and serves the county of Kern located at the southern end of the San Joaquin Valley. Thousands headed to Bakersfield for State Virtual Business competition.
About 2,000 high school students from throughout California and New York are expected to attend the 13th annual California State Virtual Enterprise Trade Show and Business Plan Competition to be held in Bakersfield on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 30 - Dec. 1. The competitions will be held at the Rabobank Convention Center and Marriott Hotel from 8 am to 6 pm on Wednesday and 8 am to 1 pm on Thursday. The public is invited. Admission is free. More than 1,000 local Special Education students, staff, and volunteers are expected to participate in the Kern High School District’s (KHSD) annual Special Education Halloween Blast to be held on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the East Bakersfield High School's New Gym. The collection of new and gently worn shoes began Oct. 14 and will conclude Oct. 29. Shoes collected will be forwarded to Soles4Souls, a charity which has distributed more than 15 million pairs of shoes to people in need all over the world. [Posted:10.19.2011]

KHSD's "Principal Partners" Day offers look at 21st Century High School
The District's annual "open house" is a half day event that begins with visits that start at 7:45 a.m. at any one of 20 various District school sites. The District tries to honor participant requests to visit a particular school but such requests cannot always be honored. The event ends with an 11:30 a.m. luncheon at the Doubletree Hotel that concludes at 1 p.m. [Posted:10.5.2011]

New Whooping Cough Immunization Requirements


On September 29, 2010 California wrote into Law Assembly Bill 354, 2011 Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Immunization Requirements for Students. California Law requires students to be immunized against pertussis.
