If you are currently enrolled in a high school, you must get a transfer form and get approval from the dean. You must also obtain approval from the site administrator at Central Valley.
If you are not enrolled in a high school, you must call for an appointment to see the principal, bring proof of birth, immunization records and a parent or guardian with you. You may also bring information from your previous school and any credits earned. After filling out the enrollment packet and completing the parent conference, the site administrator will let you know if you meet the requirements for enrollment into the school.
You must provide name and address of your previous school. In order to get your credits transferred to a school outside of the Kern High School District, you must clear any debts you may have in any schools in the district. Debts may include books not returned, late fees, ROTC uniforms, library fines, etc.
If you have any further questions you may contact Dolores Albiar.
No. Childcare is not provided at Central Valley High School. However, we will make arrangements to best meet the needs of our teen parents so that they may have a successful educational experience.
In addition to regular class attendance and high academic productivity, Central Valley students can earn more credits towards graduation in several ways. Attending R.O.P. (Regional Occupational Program) classes allows a student to earn up to 15 units a semester while also learning occupational skills. A very limited number of students who have a history of good attendance may be able to attend classes at Bakersfield Adult School while still taking classes at Central Valley. Seniors can also take classes at Bakersfield College which will earn credit towards graduation. Summer school is another option which will allow students to take proficiency classes and pass any required test. Community Service program is also available, students earn credits by providing service in the community under the direction of the school counselor.
If you have any further questions you may contact Mrs. Roberts at 746-4281.
A student wanting to return to the regular high school must earn 40 credits during the semester and display good behavior and attendance. Any request to return must be approved by the site administrator and the dean of students at the comprehensive high school. Students must be on track to graduate in order to be allowed to return.
Students and parents are urged to listen to your favorite radio station for information on foggy mornings beginning at 6:30am. Please listen to specifically for information regarding Shafter High School since Central Valley and Shafter are on the same bus schedule. If Shafter is delayed, then we are, too. If they are not delayed, then we are not either.
